The Story

In 1996, at age sixteen, Aleksandra Magdziak left Gliiwice, Poland and emigrated to the United States, searching for the American Dream. She landed in America’s hometown: Plymouth, Mass.

Over the next two and a half decades, her journey led to citizenship, a law degree, and the professional boxing arena where she met the love of her life, Wayne Lopes. Seconds Out: Undaunted follows Aleks’ journey with husband-trainer Wayne in her corner, as she fights her way to the top – in the process, she discovers the true meaning of success.

Aleksandra’s quest for a world boxing title was overshadowed by the tragic death of Wayne’s oldest son, Manuel Antonio Lopes, an undefeated professional boxer. As Aleksandra and Wayne work through their grief, they never imagined their journey would lead to the final fight of HBO’s celebrated history of boxing program.
